Founded by Lisa Lovatt-Smith in 2002, OrphanAid Africa is a non-profit organization supporting orphans and vulnerable children in Ghana through programs in care reform, education, and development.
The main goal is to ensure that children grow up in safe and permanent family settings with appropriate care and protection. From the year 2007 OA implemented a new a policy, inline with the guidelines of UNICEF, the UN and the Government of Ghana, to avoid institutional care for orphaned and vulnerable children and started carrying out the "Care Reform Initiative". In addition to the headquarters in Ghana, OA operates and builds awareness in the USA and Europe with branches registered in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States, all sharing the similar goal of developing fundraising programs that will help fund our OVC care initiatives.
